Provides Additional CATIA Translation Enhancements

Leuven, Belgium, Tuesday, October 10, 2006 – Capvidia continues to provide the very best solution for SolidWorks users who need to translate CATIA data by keeping pace with new releases of CATIA V5 revisions.  This new release supports all CATIA V5 revisions up to version 17.  FormatWorks is the first and only Certified Gold Product for SolidWorks users who need to translate CATIA data correctly and reliably to and from SolidWorks.

New enhancements include the following new functions:

• Support for CATIAV5 R17 – This new release supports CATIAV5 (CATPart, CATProduct) Files up to revision 17.
• Export of CATIA V5 Assemblies (CATProduct) - The SolidWorks assembly structure and instances are preserved and translated to CATIA V5 assembly.
• Support for CATIA V4 export files format .exp - The .exp  is automatically converted into .model format. User can select a single or multiple parts from the .exp file and import them into SolidWorks. The remaining files can be stored on the disk in the .model format.
• Preview-Select-Translate – Preview CATIA V5 allows the fast geometry visualization and selection of parts or assemblies for translation to SolidWorks. User selects only the part of the original model he intends to use in SolidWorks.
• Preserving original color definition – Solids that have surfaces with different colors will maintain the individual color definition through the translation process.

FormatWorks is specifically designed for data import and repair of models in the SolidWorks environment.  Repair can be performed on imported 3D models or models created in SolidWorks. All kinds of geometrical and topological problems preventing SolidWorks from forming of a valid solid can be easily resolved with help of FormatWorks.  

FormatWorks also provides extensive manual repair tools that create the workflow necessary to correct any remaining problems after automatic corrections.  FormatWorks will automatically classify all problematic areas (e.g. gaps, invalid topology, and bad surfaces), create new documents with problem entities, and allow you to repair each problematic area independently.  Once repaired, they are automatically inserted back into the original model.  This not only simplifies the repairing work but it also drastically reduces the time required to correct a model.

Data import formats: IGES, STEP, Parasolid, VDA-FS, STL, VRML, CATIA V4 (.exp, .model), CATIA V5 (up to R17, CATPart, CATProduct), Pro/E, CADDS, and UGX. 
Data export formats: IGES 6.0, STEP, CATIA V4 (.model), CATIA V5 (up to R16, CATPart, CATProduct), ACIS, IGES (up to 6.0 with CAD system flavor for CATIA V4, CATIA V5, SolidEdge, SolidWorks, FEMAP), VRML, STL.
