FlowVision High-performance computing and AMD Barcelona

FlowVisionFlowVisionBelgium, Leuven, 22 July 2008 – Capvidia presents results of testing multi-processor AMD Barcelona server (provided by NIAGARA Distribution Company) on complex CFD problems modeled with FlowVision-HPC (v3.06).

Niagara Distribution Company  provided to our CFD team a 1U-server based on 4-core AMD processors Barcelona type for testing the server scalability on large CFD size problems. The server configuration contains 4 Quad Сore AMD Opteron 8347 processors operating at 1.9 Ghz  and total memory of 56 Gb. The project was named Barcelona after the name of the processors.

Capvidia releases FlowVision HPC For realistic multi-physics simulations

FlowVision HPC

Leuven, Belgium, Wednesday, June 04, 2008 – Capvidia continues to provide innovative CFD simulation solutions with their new FlowVision  (High Performance Computing) HPC release.  This release features a parallel solver optimized for multi-grid and multi-core cluster configurations. An optional direct coupling with Simulia-Abaqus provides a solution for multi-physics simulation such as fluid-structure-interaction. Their focus on multi-physics applications is on-goring activity since more than decade.

“Realistic CFD simulations require not only efficient numerical implementation, but also close cooperation with industrial partners who are able to verify the simulation results with experiments. Capvidia has been working with market leaders from the tire industry and compressor manufacturers over the last 6 years to enhance FlowVision for complex multi-physics applications.” says T. Luniewski Capvidia CEO.  “It is our strategy to address challenging applications in vertical markets.”

Capvidia Signed Reseller Agreement with PC Stars

LEUVEN, Belgium, May 29, 2008 – Capvidia NV is pleased to announce the signing of a reseller agreement with Beijing Baihui PC Stars Technology Co. Ltd. the biggest software online distributor in China for the promotion of Capvidia’s products on Chinese market.

Automatic optimization in FlowVision HPC

Complex optimization problems can now be efficiently addressed with FlowVision HPC and IOSO NM solver. IOSO NM solver is a multi-purpose optimization solver for optimization of complex technical systems and technological processes. IOSO NM handles large dimension real-life problems defined with multi-criteria and multi-parameters:

  • up to 20 independent criteria or objectives
  • up to 100 independent design variables

An optimal solution can be obtained in a minimum time.

Abaqus Users' Conference 2008

Capvidia is one of the Exhibitor Sponsors at AUC 2008

In the Partner exhibition we will demonstrate FlowVision simulations (parallel version with direct Abaqus interface) illustrating our approach to multi-physics realistic CFD simulation. Do not miss this opportunity to meet our CFD experts.

At AUC 2008 Capvidia will go with  "Drop-Test FSI simulation with Abaqus and FlowVision based on the direct 2-way coupling approach".

The paper presents a numerical simulation of the drop test in a still water for the multi-component box structure. The complexity of the problem is in the strong fluid-structure interaction (FSI) between the box and the water free surface.
